Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has restated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the safety and security of residents, noting that the true strength of any society lies not only in its infrastructure but in the confidence and protection its people enjoy.

Speaking at the 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security with the Governor, held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) received N1,848,406,100 in cash donations, while N1,777,543,613.81 was expended on various interventions between November 2024 and November 2025.
The event, themed “Building Trust, Enhancing Security: A New Era of Security and Partnerships,” highlighted the state’s emphasis on trust, collaboration, and shared responsibility as the guiding principles of its security framework.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that securing Lagos cannot be the responsibility of government alone, noting that contributions from the private sector, community groups, and residents remain crucial to sustaining peace and stability across the state.

He added that Lagos’ position as West Africa’s leading commercial hub requires a security architecture that is adaptive, technology-driven, and resilient, praising LSSTF as a model for sustainable security financing and public-private partnerships on the continent.
Reviewing recent investments, the governor listed the acquisition of patrol vehicles, personnel carriers, motorbikes, ballistic gear, marine craft, and advanced surveillance equipment worth over N5 billion, while outlining priorities such as modernisation, intelligence-led operations, community engagement, and intensive training for security personnel.
Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation to philanthropist Adebutu Keshington for donating the new LSSTF headquarters, announcing that the purpose-built facility will be completed within twelve months, alongside the handover of 100 additional security vehicles to boost festive-season operations.
Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, and Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, provided updates on ongoing activities, including over N38 million in retail donations from petty traders, the arrest of 50 kidnappers, and enhanced policing strategies ahead of the Detty December season to prevent crime and traffic-related robberies.
