President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law the amendments to the 2022 Electoral Act, following extensive deliberations by the National Assembly, describing the move as a major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s democracy. The President emphasised the importance of public confidence in the electoral system, noting that while voting and counting remain largely manual, the new law enhances electronic transmission of results to improve transparency, while guarding against technical glitches and cyber threats.
