The Lagos State Police Command has arrested fourteen persons suspected to be involved in traffic-related robbery at various locations along the Lekki-Epe Expressway over the past two weeks, following intensified security operations aimed at curbing criminal activities that exploit traffic congestion along the busy corridor. The arrests, which form part of broader efforts to enhance the safety of motorists, commuters and residents, underscore the Command’s renewed resolve to tackle crimes often associated with gridlock and peak-hour movements in the area.

The development was confirmed on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, in a post shared on her official X handle, @AbimbolaShotayo, where she provided details of the operations that led to the suspects’ apprehension.
According to Adebisi, operatives of the Command’s Tactical Squad based in Elemoro carried out the arrests through sustained patrols and intelligence-driven operations designed to disrupt criminal networks operating along the Lekki-Epe axis.
She explained that the targeted operations were part of proactive policing strategies aimed at identifying crime-prone spots, preventing attacks on motorists during traffic build-ups, and restoring public confidence in the safety of the expressway.

The police spokesperson noted that the successful arrests reflect the Command’s determination to strengthen security, uphold law and order, and ensure the protection of lives and property on major routes across the state.
“This achievement is a direct result of sustained patrols and intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing traffic-related robberies and improving safety for motorists and other road users along the Lekki-Epe Expressway,” Adebisi said.
“Security is a shared responsibility. Members of the public are encouraged to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station,” she added.
Adebisi further reassured residents and commuters that the Lagos State Police Command would continue aggressive patrols and security operations in the area, reiterating its community policing message of “See Something, Say Something” and stressing that sustained cooperation between the police and the public remains vital to maintaining peace and security.
