Peter Obi Addresses Nigerians in South Africa, Speaks on Diaspora Challenges

Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has addressed concerns affecting Nigerians living abroad during an engagement with members of the Nigerian community in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to details shared after the meeting, discussions centred on the experiences of Nigerians in foreign countries, diplomatic relations, governance issues in Nigeria, and the growing desire among many citizens abroad to return home and contribute to national development.
Obi noted that the way citizens are treated internationally is often linked to the image and condition of their home country. He stressed that countries with functional institutions, responsible leadership, and justice systems usually command greater respect on the global stage.
He also encouraged Nigerians living overseas to remain law-abiding and continue to contribute positively to society despite frustrations surrounding the current situation in Nigeria.
The former governor maintained that rebuilding the country would require accountability, discipline, civic responsibility, and leadership that prioritises the welfare of the people.
During the interaction, Obi reaffirmed his belief that improving governance and strengthening institutions are essential steps toward restoring confidence among Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.
