A Nigerian national identified as Etinosa Osahon has been arrested by officers of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles as part of ongoing immigration enforcement operations in the United States.

According to information released by ICE, Osahon was taken into custody on May 21 and is currently being held pending deportation proceedings.

Authorities disclosed that the 49-year-old has a criminal history linked to theft-related offences, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft. Officials also alleged that he was found in possession of stolen mail during previous investigations.

ICE stated that the Nigerian national remains in detention while immigration authorities continue processes related to his possible removal from the United States.

The arrest was publicly confirmed by ICE Los Angeles through a statement shared on the agency’s official social media platform on Saturday.

Osahon’s case adds to a growing number of immigration-related arrests involving Nigerians in the United States amid tighter enforcement measures introduced under President Donald Trump’s administration.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security reportedly identified over 100 convicted Nigerian offenders among foreign nationals facing deportation after completing various prison sentences across the country.

American immigration authorities have continued to intensify operations targeting undocumented migrants and foreign nationals with criminal records as part of broader border security and immigration control policies.
