A Nigerian postgraduate student, Uche Okirie, has been fatally stabbed in his residence in Norwich, England, in the early hours of Saturday. Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred at Somerleyton House, leaving residents in shock.

Police reported that the victim was attacked around 5:22 a.m., prompting an immediate response from emergency services. Neighbours raised the alarm after discovering the young man unresponsive in his flat.

The deceased, in his 30s, was a student at the University of East Anglia, where he was actively involved as an International Student Ambassador. He moved to the UK to pursue postgraduate studies after working professionally in Nigeria.



A 27-year-old Congolese man has been arrested and charged with murder. The suspect appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Monday and has been remanded in custody pending further hearings.

Autopsy results revealed that Mr Okirie died from a stab wound to the chest. Police have maintained a cordon around the property while forensic teams extract critical evidence, including DNA and other materials linked to the crime.
