Over 130 individuals, including 76 students and 61 widows, have benefited from a philanthropic initiative by Chongkon Haruna Zamani, a Nigerian doctoral student at Morgan State University, Maryland, USA.
In an effort to ease the economic hardship facing his home community, Zamani donated cash and food items to beneficiaries during a distribution exercise held in Kwablang Lusa, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The beneficiaries included students from leading institutions such as Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), University of Jos, Sa’adu Zungur State University (SAZU), Federal University Kashere, Aminu Sale College of Education, and several others across Bauchi and Plateau states.
According to Sunday Peter, chairman of the distribution committee, the cash donations ranged from ₦10,000 to ₦50,000, alongside bags of corn provided to widows in the community. He noted that the support is aimed at reducing educational and household burdens.
“This assistance will help students pay school fees and focus on their studies, while the food items will support widows struggling to make ends meet,” Peter said, adding that Zamani had previously sponsored JAMB registration for 10 students last year.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hakuri Yohanna and Justina Yakubu expressed gratitude for the timely support, praying for Zamani’s continued success and well-being.
