The Nigeria Police Force has dismantled a transnational human trafficking and fraud syndicate operating within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and parts of Nasarawa State, rescuing 30 foreign nationals and arresting 13 suspects linked to the operation.

Police authorities said the network was involved in deceiving young people from West African countries with fake promises of jobs in Nigeria and migration opportunities to Europe, only to subject them to exploitation after arrival.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Abuja, noting that intelligence-led investigations began after reports of missing foreign nationals raised suspicion of coordinated criminal activity.

Acting on actionable intelligence, operatives of the Intelligence Response Team carried out coordinated raids on May 7, 2026, targeting identified hideouts along Barrister Road in Rugan Dakachi area of Nasarawa State. The operation led to the rescue of all 30 victims, who were confirmed to be Malian nationals.

The police also confirmed the arrest of 13 suspects connected to the syndicate, adding that efforts are ongoing to track other collaborators and financial backers linked to the criminal network.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to dismantling human trafficking rings and other forms of transnational organised crime, assuring that all individuals involved will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
