The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has launched a new digital platform aimed at simplifying the process of obtaining drug integrity test results and visa clearance certificate.

The platform, known as the Drug Integrity Test and Visa E-Administration System (DITViCAS), was unveiled on Tuesday in Abuja by NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd.), who described the initiative as “a paradigm shift in Nigeria’s fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.”

Represented by the agency’s Secretary, Shadrach Haruna, Marwa explained that the online system will eliminate the cumbersome manual procedures that previously involved multiple physical visits, paperwork, and lengthy verification cycles.

“For years, obtaining the NDLEA Visa Clearance Certificate has been marred by delays, bottlenecks, and human interference. This innovation now ensures efficiency, transparency, and accountability,” he said.

According to the agency, the DITViCAS platform automates the entire process from online application and payment to scheduling of test locations and digital verification of certificates. The system also integrates with partner institutions, ensuring that results are tamper-proof and verifiable by embassies, employers, and other authorised bodies.

Marwa noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, reflecting the administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved governance and public service delivery.

The portal is expected to speed up visa-related drug clearance processes, which previously took weeks, reducing them to between three and seven days in most cases.

The NDLEA also revealed that private medical facilities and testing laboratories can now apply to become accredited drug test centres under the system.

The online portal can be accessed via www.drugandvisa.ndlea.gov.ng.

With this innovation, the agency says it hopes to strengthen its dual strategy of supply and demand reduction curbing illicit drug use while promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability in drug control operations.
