MTAC Trains Tourist Guides Officer To Enhance Service Delivery

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MTAC) has conducted a two-day intensive training programme for Tourist Guide Officers to strengthen professionalism and service excellence. The workshop was held at the J. Randle Centre in Victoria Island.


Commissioner for Tourism, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, said Lagos’ rich heritage sites require well-trained guides capable of delivering accurate interpretation and memorable visitor experiences. She stressed that professionalism remains central to positioning Lagos as Africa’s premier tourism destination.

Permanent Secretary Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila described the training as a strategic investment in building competent tourism ambassadors. Participants were encouraged to uphold high standards in conduct, communication and public engagement.

The programme covered tour guiding fundamentals, ethics, sustainable tourism practices and career development. Facilitators provided practical insights into improving service delivery across heritage and cultural sites.



Officials reaffirmed that capacity development remains a priority under the state’s tourism expansion strategy, ensuring visitors experience seamless and world-class hospitality across Lagos.
