The Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment has thrown its weight behind marketing strategist Becky Joe’s Guinness World Record attempt for Africa’s Largest Social Media Marketing Lesson. The event, held at the University of Lagos Sports Centre, attracted thousands of participants.

Commissioner Akinyemi Ajigbotafe described the initiative as a strategic platform aligned with the state’s mandate to promote digital enterprise and sustainable employment. He said the digital economy offers boundless opportunities for youth empowerment.

The programme aims not only to set a global record but also to equip young people with income-generating skills in content creation and social media marketing. A three-month blended learning structure will extend the impact beyond the event.

Permanent Secretary Mrs. Lolade Aina noted that digital marketing has evolved into a viable business sector capable of generating sustainable income and expanding global reach for entrepreneurs.

Officials described the initiative as a deliberate investment in digital inclusion and long-term economic empowerment, reinforcing Lagos’ status as a hub for innovation and youth development.
