Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, the General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), has issued an urgent call for enhanced cooperation from service providers and stakeholders within the disability community. Addressing a virtual assembly on January 19, 2026, she stressed that the speed and accuracy of information sharing are the primary engines driving the agency’s ability to deliver life-changing support.

The General Manager specifically pointed out that recurring delays in submitting vital data—such as lists of cluster heads and accurate member registries—have become a bottleneck for progress. Without this data, the Agency struggles to map out the specific needs of various groups, leading to gaps in service delivery. She noted that prompt responses are not merely administrative tasks but are essential for reaching the most vulnerable individuals in a timely manner.
Collaboration was the central theme of the meeting, which included heads of associations, managers of care homes, and various service providers. Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal encouraged an open-door policy, inviting stakeholders to offer suggestions or seek clarifications directly from her office. The objective is to move beyond a top-down approach and create a partnership where every person with a disability is integrated into the social and economic fabric of the state.
Reflecting on the successes of 2025, the General Manager highlighted the agency's impact on the elderly and the provision of assistive tools for civil servants with disabilities. These achievements serve as a foundation for the 2026 agenda, which aims to scale up interventions for children and expand the reach of vocational tools. Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal expressed strong optimism that the current year would see a more profound and inclusive impact across all local governments.

She reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity. She stated that the ultimate goal is to build a society where physical or mental challenges do not hinder a citizen's ability to thrive. By strengthening these partnerships now, LASODA hopes to create a sustainable model of support that ensures no one is left behind in the state's development journey.
