The Lagos State Government has distributed financial assistance cheques to another 250 beneficiaries through the Eko Cares Financial Assistance Programme. This latest round of support, managed by the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, aims to provide immediate relief to vulnerable residents. Dr. Afolabi Tajudeen, Special Adviser to the Governor, stated during the ceremony in Alausa that the initiative is a direct fulfillment of the government's promise to deliver the dividends of democracy.

Dr. Tajudeen emphasized that the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu remains deeply committed to the welfare of indigent citizens during these challenging economic times. This presentation follows a similar exercise last week where 400 residents received support, bringing the total number of recent beneficiaries to 650. The Special Adviser reiterated that the funds are intended to serve as a safety net, helping families stabilize their finances and improve their general standard of living.

Beneficiaries were strongly advised to utilize the grants for productive ventures rather than non-essential spending. Dr. Tajudeen encouraged them to invest in small-scale businesses or essential household needs that yield long-term benefits. He also used the platform to urge the recipients to enroll in the Ilera-Eko Health Insurance Scheme, highlighting that financial stability is only sustainable when accompanied by affordable and accessible healthcare.

Prior to receiving their cheques, the participants underwent a sensitization session regarding various government policies and civic responsibilities. Permanent Secretary Engr. Sholabomi Shasore advised the beneficiaries to deposit their cheques immediately to avoid delays in accessing the funds. The session aimed to deepen the residents' understanding of governance and encourage active participation in community development programmes initiated by the state.

The Eko Cares programme continues to be a cornerstone of the state's social intervention strategy, fostering public confidence in government institutions. By targeting the most vulnerable segments of society, the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement seeks to bridge the gap between the government and the governed. The ceremony concluded with a sense of hope as many beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely intervention in their lives.
