The Lagos State Government has launched a new advocacy drive to educate its workforce on the importance of early pension planning. Speaking at a Pension Awareness Programme in Alausa, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, urged public servants to engage with pension education long before their retirement date to ensure a seamless transition into post-service life.

Mr. Agoro, represented by the Director of the Post Service Office, Mrs. Olubukola Durodola, described the awareness program as a deliberate strategy to foster transparency. He noted that by providing workers with accurate information, the state aims to eliminate the anxiety and misinformation that often cloud the retirement process for many civil servants.

The Head of Service emphasized that "information is power," arguing that a well-informed workforce is better equipped to make financial decisions that secure their future. He maintained that pensions should not be viewed as abstract concepts but as a guaranteed framework for dignity, security, and continuity of care after years of dedicated labor for the state.

The program also addressed common misconceptions that have previously weakened public confidence in pension administration. By bringing the Lagos State Pension Commission directly to the employees, the government hopes to rebuild trust and demonstrate that the system is designed to work in the best interest of the retirees.

As the session concluded, officials reiterated that the welfare of workers remains a top priority for the current administration. The state government promised to continue these outreach activities, ensuring that every public servant understands their rights and the benefits awaiting them at the end of their professional journey.
