The Lagos State Government has expressed readiness to deepen trade and investment relations with Georgia, highlighting shared opportunities in technology, logistics, culture, and infrastructure.
Speaking on Thursday at the US–Nigeria Policy & Trade Forum held at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta an event organised alongside FNITCC-AFRICON 2025 Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu underscored the importance of building strategic city-to-city partnerships.
“Atlanta is a logistics and technology hub for the American South, while Lagos, with over 24 million people, drives Africa’s most dynamic economy,” Sanwo-Olu said. “Both cities thrive at the intersection of trade, innovation, and culture.”
He added that Lagos was “open for investment” in sectors including healthcare, education, technology, infrastructure, and the creative industries, calling on Nigerian professionals in Georgia to help foster collaboration.
The forum brought together policymakers, business leaders, and members of the Nigerian diaspora to explore avenues for mutual growth. Organisers said the dialogue aimed to strengthen economic ties between Nigeria’s commercial capital and Georgia, leveraging the diaspora as a bridge for innovation and trust.
