Lagos SDG Office Strengthens Accountability Through Peer Review Strategy Session

The Lagos State Office of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has intensified efforts to strengthen accountability and results-based governance with the convening of a Peer Review Mechanism (TPRM) Milestone Strategy Session focused on performance reporting..


The session, held on January 22, 2025, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ikeja, brought together management staff of the SDGs Office, members of the Technical Peer Review team, and officials from the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget.

In her opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Office of SDGs, Mrs. Kaphayah Olayemi Sarumi, said the initiative was aimed at reinforcing transparency, accountability and evidence-based decision-making in line with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s development agenda.

She stressed that effective governance depends on credible data, measurable outcomes and robust reporting frameworks that accurately reflect the impact of public investments. According to her, the Peer Review Mechanism provides a structured platform to improve data quality and inter-agency collaboration.



Technical sessions featured presentations on the Medium-Term Sector Strategy (MTSS) and Performance Management Review Framework, highlighting the role of benchmarks and Key Performance Indicators in tracking progress. Participants were encouraged to translate the outcomes of the session into actionable improvements that would strengthen monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes across the SDGs Office..
