The Lagos State Government has advised Christian intending pilgrims travelling to Israel and Jordan to remain spiritually focused and disciplined, describing the pilgrimage as a period for deep reflection and spiritual rejuvenation.

The advice was given during a one-day orientation seminar held at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja. The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Adewunmi Gbolahan Ogunsanya, stated that the seminar was organised to adequately prepare pilgrims for the spiritual and cultural demands of the journey.

Ogunsanya urged participants to conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of Lagos State and Nigeria, emphasising the importance of unity, cooperation and respect throughout the pilgrimage. He noted that adherence to guidelines would ensure a smooth and fulfilling experience for all pilgrims.

Also speaking, the Board Secretary, Mr. Okudero Gbolabo Omoniyi, Ph.D., reminded pilgrims of the sacred nature of the journey, urging them to be intentional in avoiding distractions. He advised them to dress modestly, obey local laws, stay with their groups, follow tour guides’ instructions and prioritise prayer.

Operational staff, including medical, media and administrative teams, were also briefed on their roles to ensure a seamless exercise. The first batch of pilgrims is scheduled to depart on January 31, 2026, while the second batch will leave in February, with assurances of full government support for a successful pilgrimage.
