The Lagos State Government has formally inaugurated the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS) Enforcement Team, marking the commencement of full implementation of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s Executive Order on mandatory social health insurance for all residents.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Public Service Office, Alausa-Ikeja, brought together key state and federal stakeholders, reinforcing Lagos State’s leadership in driving universal health coverage through the Ilera-Eko Social Health Insurance Scheme.
Delivering the keynote address, the Head of Service, Lagos State, Mr. Olabode Agoro, described the event as a critical milestone in the State’s health reform journey, stressing that the Executive Order underscores the government’s commitment to affordable, accessible, and sustainable healthcare for all.
Agoro explained that enforcement would begin with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), noting that compliance would include mandatory Ilera-Eko enrollment for staff, integration of registration links on MDA websites, and submission of monthly compliance reports.

He further announced that evidence of enrollment would now be required during monthly staff audits, warning that salaries would be withheld for non-compliant officers, as Lagos State intensifies efforts to eliminate out-of-pocket healthcare spending.
