The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Service Commission (HSC), Dr. Cecilia Abimbola Mabogunje, has commended General Hospital Somolu for its commitment to quality healthcare service delivery. The commendation came during a facility tour by the Hospital Transformation Support Initiative (HTSI) Team on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Dr. Mabogunje, who was received by the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Mustapha Adebola Quadri, alongside members of the management team, praised the hospital’s high standards of hygiene and professionalism. She acknowledged the institution’s resilience in delivering effective healthcare services despite space constraints.
During the visit, the Permanent Secretary emphasised the importance of teamwork and continuous improvement in achieving the healthcare objectives outlined in Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda. She encouraged staff members not to relent in their efforts to strengthen collaboration and patient-centred care.
In his remarks, Dr. Quadri highlighted the hospital’s recent progress, including improvements in its Physiotherapy Clinic and ongoing expansion projects aimed at transforming the facility into a world-class medical centre. He also noted a significant increase in patient confidence, with more residents choosing hospital care over self-medication.

The HTSI Team toured key departments of the hospital, including Accident and Emergency, Laboratory, Theatre, Paediatrics, Dental, Pharmacy, and the Male and Female Wards, as well as the construction site of the new hospital complex. The visit reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and enhancing service delivery across Lagos State.
