Germany’s Economy Minister, Katherina Reiche, arrived in Kyiv on Friday to discuss support for Ukraine as Russian forces intensify attacks on the country’s energy grid.
According to Reuters, Reiche said Moscow’s strikes were “deliberate attacks against Ukraine’s energy supply,” warning that millions could face power shortages as winter approaches.
The visit focuses on repairing and protecting Ukraine’s electricity and heating systems, which have suffered repeated damage from drone and missile strikes this week.
Germany, Ukraine’s second-largest military and economic supporter after the United States, is exploring ways to strengthen cooperation on both energy and defence projects.
Reiche praised Ukraine’s resilience, adding that Germany aims to help ensure stable power and heating for civilians during the coming cold months.
