Ambassador Tamar Taliashvili led the discussions alongside Bishop Saba Intskirveli of the Georgian Diocese in North America and Dean Pavle Zakaria, head of the Holy Virtuous Queen Tamar Parish in Washington. Representatives from the Holy Hieromartyr Grigol Peradze Georgian Cultural Centre and the diaspora in Philadelphia also participated.

The gathering focused on enhancing Georgian-American relations, deepening cultural exchange, and highlighting the role of the Georgian Orthodox Church in diaspora communities. Discussions included plans for commemorating 1,700 years of Christianity as Georgia’s state religion in 2026.

In support of the diaspora, the Embassy contributed to a charitable initiative aimed at constructing a new Georgian church in Washington. Ambassador Taliashvili also presented symbolic gifts to clergy and cultural representatives to strengthen ongoing collaborations.

The event reflects Georgia’s commitment to maintaining close engagement with its citizens abroad while promoting cultural, religious, and civic initiatives that reinforce national identity and community cohesion.

It also highlighted opportunities for future partnerships in education, cultural programming, and religious projects, ensuring the diaspora remains an active participant in Georgia’s social and cultural life.

Community leaders expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s outreach, noting that such interactions help preserve Georgian traditions and provide a platform for collective action on initiatives beneficial to both local and international communities.

The Embassy confirmed that it will continue similar programs to foster dialogue, support cultural projects, and maintain strong connections with Georgian expatriates across the United States.
