A Nigerian family has demanded clarity over the death of their mother aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight travelling from Abuja to Washington, D.C., describing the circumstances surrounding her passing as troubling and unexplained.

The family, which has withheld its identity, took to social media to draw attention to the incident, saying the woman died mid-air during the international journey. They insist she was healthy before boarding the aircraft and had shown no signs of illness prior to departure.

She claimed that repeated efforts to get a clear explanation from Ethiopian Airlines had been unsuccessful, alleging that the family had received no satisfactory account of events despite multiple inquiries.

According to her, airline officials administered first aid on board but were later warned not to discuss the incident. She urged Nigerians and other passengers to continue sharing the appeal to attract the attention of relevant authorities.

The incident has generated widespread reactions online, with many social media users calling on the airline and aviation regulators to provide a transparent account of the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Reacting to the development, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority confirmed it was aware of the case and had begun engaging both the family and the airline, assuring the public that steps were being taken to ensure a thorough review and proper closure.
