The Chairman of Epe Local Government Area, Princess Surah Animashaun, has donated two patrol vehicles to the Police Tactical Team operating within the council, in a move aimed at strengthening security architecture, enhancing law enforcement capacity and sustaining the relative peace and stability the area is known for. The gesture, she said, reflects her administration’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property while supporting security agencies with the tools required to effectively combat crime at the grassroots level.

Animashaun disclosed this on Monday while speaking during the official handover ceremony held at the council secretariat in Ita-Marun, Epe, where she formally presented the patrol vehicles to the police tactical unit.

She explained that the donation was intended to empower the police operationally, particularly in improving patrol coverage and enabling officers to effectively comb flashpoints and suspected hideouts that could potentially harbour hoodlums and criminal elements.

While handing over the vehicles to the Commander of the Police Tactical Team, the council chairperson commended the police for their dedication and resilience, stressing that security remains the cornerstone and heartbeat of her administration.

She noted that Epe Local Government is widely regarded as one of the most peaceful councils in Lagos State, adding that sustaining this record requires continuous investment in security support, collaboration and proactive policing strategies.

“Epe Council is known to be one of the most peaceful councils in Lagos State, and in a bid to sustain this feat, the present administration deemed it fit to donate these vehicles to the police to strengthen its security mechanism,” she said.
“There is no way the council would have enjoyed this level of peace without the police, and I am convinced that the Nigeria Police Force deserves more support to continue to achieve the desired results,” she added.

In his response, the Commander of the Police Tactical Team, CSP Nosa Igbineweka, expressed gratitude to the council chairperson for what he described as a rare act of benevolence, assuring that the patrol vehicles would significantly enhance patrol operations, response time and overall operational efficiency in curtailing criminal activities within Epe and its environs.
