A Nigerian professional group based abroad, the Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID), has lauded Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for what it described as impactful and people-focused leadership as the state marked the 50th anniversary of its creation.

The group said the milestone offered an opportunity to reflect on Oyo State’s journey and acknowledge reforms introduced under the current administration. According to OID, Makinde’s tenure has been defined by policies aimed at institutional reforms, infrastructure development, and improved public service delivery.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, the group noted that the governor’s approach to governance aligns with global best practices, particularly in transparency, inclusiveness, and long-term planning. It added that these efforts have strengthened public confidence in government and enhanced the state’s profile among Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

OID further highlighted investments in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and civil service reforms, stating that these initiatives have laid a foundation for sustainable development. The group also commended the administration for promoting peace and stability, which it said are critical for economic growth.

Congratulating the people of Oyo State on the golden jubilee, the diaspora body urged the government to sustain the reform agenda and continue engaging professionals at home and abroad in the state’s development drive.

Oyo State was created on February 3, 1976, and has since evolved into one of the South-West’s key political and economic hubs.
