Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu, has officially commenced his diplomatic assignment after presenting his Letters of Credence to King Charles III during a formal ceremony at St James’s Palace.
The presentation ceremony, which was attended by the envoy and his wife, marked the formal recognition of Dalhatu as Nigeria’s representative in the United Kingdom. Under diplomatic tradition, newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners are required to submit Letters of Credence to the host country’s head of state before fully assuming official duties.
Following the event, the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce congratulated the Nigerian envoy, describing the development as an important step in strengthening relations between both countries.
In a statement shared through its official communication channels, the chamber noted that Dalhatu’s accreditation comes at a period of growing engagement between Nigeria and the UK, especially in areas such as trade, investment, and diplomatic cooperation.
The organisation also expressed optimism that the new high commissioner would help deepen economic partnerships and broaden collaboration across sectors including commerce, education, security, and cultural exchange.
Nigeria and the United Kingdom have maintained longstanding diplomatic and economic ties over the years, with both countries continuing to explore opportunities for stronger bilateral cooperation.
