Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has approved the payment of a 13th-month “Eno-mber” salary bonus to state workers ahead of the 2025 Christmas celebrations. The announcement was made on Monday through a post on his official social media platforms.

According to government sources, the approval is part of the administration’s ongoing commitment to workers’ welfare, especially during the festive period when financial demands typically increase. The gesture is expected to provide relief for thousands of civil servants across the state.

The governor has already directed the state Accountant General to commence disbursement of the bonus immediately. The payment is expected to reach workers before the Christmas holiday to ease their financial burdens.

Officials noted that the 13th-month salary, often equivalent to an extra month of wages, is traditionally paid at the end of the year to support employees with festive expenses. The initiative has been widely commended by labour unions in the state.

This year’s announcement marks the third consecutive year that Governor Eno has extended the 13th-month bonus to Akwa Ibom workers. Many civil servants described the consistency as a demonstration of the administration’s stability and responsiveness.

“I have directed the Accountant General to pay the 13th-month Eno-mber salary before Christmas, so our workers can celebrate with ease,” the governor wrote on his social media page, reaffirming his commitment to employees’ welfare.
“Happy New Month,” he added, noting that the gesture forms part of efforts to ensure a joyful and stress-free festive season for public servants in the state.

The early approval of the bonus has further positioned Akwa Ibom as one of the few states implementing consistent end-of-year salary incentives. Workers have expressed appreciation, saying the payment will help them meet essential family obligations during the celebrations.
