The Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area in Lagos State has distributed ₦100,000 each to 500 residents as part of a broader welfare and economic support programme initiated by the council leadership.

The intervention, held at the council secretariat, combined direct cash assistance with food distribution to ease economic pressures on households. Beneficiaries received instant bank alerts, while food items were shared under multiple social support schemes introduced by the council administration.

Beyond individual support, the council also strengthened institutional capacity by handing over utility vehicles to security agencies and selected organisations operating within the LCDA. The move is aimed at improving security operations, mobility, and overall service delivery across the area.

Religious bodies, including the Christian Association of Nigeria and the League of Imams, alongside revenue offices and key council departments, were among the beneficiaries of the vehicles. Staff buses were also provided for councillors and the vice chairman to support official duties.

The event drew several political leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders, reflecting broad local engagement with the programme. According to the council, the initiative aligns with its eight-point development agenda focused on welfare, security, and sustainable community development.

Council officials described the intervention as a practical demonstration of people-centred governance, noting that similar programmes will continue to support residents and strengthen public institutions within Agboyi-Ketu.
