The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) on Tuesday held its 2025 retirement ceremony to honour officers who concluded their years of service to the ministry and the Lagos State Public Service.

The ceremony, held at the ministry’s conference room, brought together senior officials, staff members, and well-wishers to celebrate the contributions of retirees whose work supported women, children, families, and vulnerable groups across the state.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Cecilia Dada, described the retirees as key contributors whose dedication and professionalism strengthened the ministry’s programmes and service delivery over the years.

She encouraged the retirees to embrace retirement as a new chapter, noting that their experience and values remain relevant beyond active service. According to her, the impact of their work will continue to reflect in the lives they touched across Lagos State.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, congratulated the retirees for completing their service with discipline and commitment, adding that their efforts advanced the ministry’s mandate and development goals of the state.

Onigbanjo also expressed appreciation to the families of the retirees, acknowledging their support and sacrifices which made it possible for the officers to serve effectively throughout their careers.

Responding on behalf of the retirees, Mr Ashimi, a former Principal of the WAPA Skills Acquisition Centre, Isheri, thanked the Lagos State Government and the ministry for creating an enabling environment for professional growth and impactful service.

He noted that his years in public service provided opportunities to empower women, men, and young people with practical skills, describing the experience as a fulfilling chapter, as the event concluded with goodwill messages and a renewed commitment by the ministry to honour dedicated service.
