The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) has commenced strategic planning for the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration with a high-level coordination meeting involving Heads of Women Affairs Departments from all Local Government Areas and LCDAs.

The Honourable Commissioner for WAPA, Hon. (Mrs.) Bolaji Cecilia Dada, presided over the meeting at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Alausa, emphasizing the need for collaboration, punctuality, and strict adherence to approved guidelines.

Hon. Dada disclosed that women from the 20 Local Government Councils and 30 LCDAs are expected to participate in the March 2026 celebration. She directed all Heads of Department to submit accurate participation figures to aid logistics planning and effective crowd management.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, commended the dedication of the representatives and urged them to comply strictly with directives to ensure a seamless event.

She also used the platform to encourage grassroots sensitisation on routine child immunisation and enrollment in the Lagos State Health Management Agency health insurance scheme, noting that improved participation would enhance the well-being of women and children statewide.
