A Nigerian entrepreneur residing in the United States, Chief Agwu Ama Agwu, has formally announced his candidacy for the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking from Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, Agwu said his decision followed extensive consultations within the diaspora and local communities to identify the political platform best suited to advancing his vision for effective representation.
Agwu, a native of Amiri Ward, Ekoli Edda, Edda LGA, noted that his time abroad exposed him to governance models and economic strategies that could benefit his constituency if applied locally.
He emphasized that his campaign would focus on bringing diaspora experiences into legislative practice, ensuring that Afikpo/Edda residents benefit from policies informed by international best practices.
Highlighting over a decade of experience in local and foreign private-sector ventures, Agwu stressed that competence, credibility, and global exposure are essential to addressing the constituency’s developmental challenges.
The entrepreneur said his platform prioritizes transparency, accountability, and inclusive community development, adding that engaging with diaspora networks will be key to driving sustainable projects in the constituency.
Agwu called on Afikpo/Edda residents, including those living abroad, to actively participate in shaping the campaign, stressing that collaboration between local and diaspora stakeholders is vital to transforming the constituency.
He concluded that his goal is to offer a new kind of representation, one that leverages international exposure to create laws and programs with direct, measurable impact on the people’s lives.
