A United Kingdom court has sentenced 19-year-old Nigerian national Jackson Uwagboe to life imprisonment for the murder of 21-year-old Robert Robinson in London.

Uwagboe was convicted at the Old Bailey after a trial that examined the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.

The court ruled that he must serve a minimum of 21 years before becoming eligible for parole.

Prosecutors told the court that the incident was triggered by a dispute connected to a stolen bicycle. What began as a confrontation escalated into a violent assault that ultimately claimed Robinson’s life.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Robinson was unarmed at the time of the attack. Investigators said he was already injured and on the ground when he was further assaulted.

The jury found Uwagboe guilty of murder after reviewing witness testimonies and forensic evidence presented during the proceedings. The sentencing brings an end to months of legal proceedings in the high-profile case.

In a related development, 24-year-old Eromosele Omoluogbe was convicted of perverting the course of justice. He was found to have assisted Uwagboe’s attempt to travel through Heathrow Airport in what prosecutors described as an effort to evade arrest.

Two other young men, Ryan Wedderburn, 18, and Kirk Harris, were previously handed life sentences for their roles in Robinson’s killing. Their convictions were secured in earlier court hearings tied to the same incident.

Lead investigators described the verdict as a measure of justice for the victim’s family, maintaining that the court’s decision reflects the gravity of the crime and the consequences of violent group attacks.
