The United Arab Emirates has intercepted a large-scale missile and drone attack launched from Iran, officials confirmed Tuesday. UAE air defence systems successfully destroyed 132 ballistic missiles and 195 drones targeting the country, marking one of the most significant escalations in regional tensions this year.

The UAE Ministry of Defence stated that out of 137 missiles detected, five fell into the sea, while the remaining 132 were neutralised mid-air. In the case of drones, 14 made landfall within UAE territory and waters, causing minor material damage but no major casualties.

Authorities reported that debris from intercepted missiles and drones caused limited damage to civilian infrastructure. Emergency response teams were immediately deployed to secure affected areas, extinguish small fires, and ensure the safety of residents in impacted regions.

The government condemned the attacks as a violation of national sovereignty and international law. Officials emphasized that the strikes represent a serious escalation that threatens civilian lives and regional stability.

Minister of State for International Cooperation, H.E. Reem Al Hashimy, said UAE authorities are fully prepared to respond to emerging threats. “We remain on high alert and are committed to safeguarding all residents and visitors,” she stated.

The attacks come amid heightened Middle East tensions following U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iranian targets. Iran has vowed retaliation, targeting countries hosting American military assets in the region.

The UAE has urged the public to rely solely on official sources for information and avoid spreading unverified reports. Authorities reaffirmed that the protection of citizens, residents, and foreign nationals remains their highest priority.
