Tourism Ministry Inspects Lagos Theatres in Igando and Oregun

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has conducted an inspection tour of the 405-seater Lagos Theatre, Igando, and the reconstruction site of Lagos Theatre, Oregun, to assess infrastructure and operational readiness.


The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, led the delegation alongside directors and senior management officials. The inspection focused on evaluating equipment condition, structural integrity and overall functionality of the facilities.

At the Oregun reconstruction site, Project Architect Mr. Tunde Joseph guided officials through ongoing construction works. Meanwhile, Facility Manager Mr. Segun Alawode briefed the team on equipment status at the Igando theatre, identifying areas requiring upgrades.

The Permanent Secretary stressed the importance of ensuring that both theatres meet high standards capable of promoting arts, culture and creative expression within the state.


The Ministry described the inspection as part of broader strategic investments aimed at strengthening Lagos’ creative infrastructure and enhancing user experience across public cultural facilities.
