The Togolese government has announced a new visa-free policy for citizens of all African countries travelling into the nation for short visits, in a move aimed at promoting regional unity and easier movement across the continent.

The policy allows African travellers holding valid national passports to enter Togo without obtaining a visa for stays of up to 30 days. Authorities disclosed that the decision forms part of broader efforts to strengthen African cooperation, economic ties and continental integration.

In a statement released by the country’s Ministry of Security, officials described the initiative as a major step toward building stronger connections among African nations and encouraging greater mobility within the region.

The government said the reform reflects Togo’s commitment to creating an open environment that supports tourism, trade, investment opportunities and collaboration among African states.

Despite the visa exemption, incoming travellers will still be required to complete an online travel declaration before arrival. Officials noted that visitors must submit the form through the government’s designated digital platform at least 24 hours ahead of their trip in order to receive a travel slip.

The latest development places Togo among a growing number of African nations relaxing travel restrictions for fellow Africans as countries on the continent push for stronger regional integration and economic cooperation.

Several African governments have recently introduced similar policies to encourage easier cross-border movement and boost intra-African tourism and commerce.

The move also comes amid ongoing discussions across the continent on improving free movement agreements and strengthening ties between African countries through more open travel policies.
