President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the 8th edition of the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS), scheduled to take place from November 11 to 13, 2025, in Abuja.
The announcement was made on Friday by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, during a press briefing in Abuja ahead of the summit.
Dabiri-Erewa explained that the summit, themed “Fast-Tracking Regional and National Development by Mobilising Diaspora Investment,” will focus on strengthening partnerships between Nigerians abroad and local entrepreneurs to accelerate economic growth and national development.
According to her, the NDIS has, since its inception in 2018, evolved into a key investment platform connecting diaspora investors, Nigerian businesses, and government agencies. The initiative targets critical sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, ICT, real estate, energy, manufacturing, education, and the creative industries.
“The Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit is not just a talk shop it is a marketplace of ideas and opportunities. We have seen the tangible impact of diaspora contributions through investments, mentorship, and innovation. This year’s edition will build on that progress,” Dabiri-Erewa said.
She noted that the 2024 edition of the summit recorded significant milestones, generating investment deals worth over ₦673 million across various sectors. The event, which attracted over 1,500 participants both physically and virtually, featured 56 investment pitches and facilitated 168 business deals.
“The summit continues to demonstrate the economic influence of Nigerians abroad. In 2024 alone, diaspora investors injected funds into agribusiness, healthcare, renewable energy, and real estate. The platform also supported local startups and SMEs, fostering job creation and innovation,” she stated.
Dabiri-Erewa added that beyond direct investments, the NDIS has contributed over ₦500 million to Nigeria’s local economy through the procurement of services from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), event vendors, and creative professionals.
She commended President Tinubu for his continuous support for diaspora engagement, saying his participation in the 2025 edition underscores the administration’s commitment to harnessing the skills, resources, and expertise of Nigerians abroad.
“We are honoured that His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will once again grace the summit as the Special Guest of Honour. His presence reaffirms the government’s dedication to building a bridge between Nigeria and its global citizens,” she said.
The NiDCOM boss also announced that this year’s summit would feature exhibitions, investment pitches, plenary sessions, and business networking forums with the participation of key stakeholders from both public and private sectors.
“NDIS 2025 will spotlight finance and fintech, ICT, creative industries, sports and entertainment, agribusiness, healthcare, education, real estate and infrastructure, manufacturing, and energy. Each of these sectors represents an avenue for diaspora-driven growth and sustainable development,” Dabiri-Erewa added.
