Lagos State security operatives have arrested seven young men suspected of robbing pedestrians on the Bolade Bridge in Oshodi. The suspects, aged between 19 and 24, were apprehended during an early morning raid on Monday. The operation was carried out by the Lagos State Environmental Task Force following several reports of harassment in the area.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrests and released the names of the suspects. He stated that the team used "actionable intelligence" and secret surveillance to track the group's activities. The bridge had recently become a hotspot for criminals who targeted commuters during the early morning and late night hours.

The suspects, identified as Samuel Olumide, Quadri Oladipupo, Ojo Ifabomi, Tunde Balogun, Dayo Badmus, Adegunlola Tayo, and Simon Michael, are now in custody. They are accused of terrorizing residents and stealing valuables from people crossing the bridge. The state government has confirmed that all seven individuals will face prosecution in court.

This crackdown is part of a broader effort to "reclaim public spaces" in Lagos. The government is focusing on critical transport corridors where criminal activity often thrives due to high foot traffic. By increasing patrols and surveillance at Oshodi, the Task Force aims to make the city’s bridges and walkways safer for everyone.

Commissioner Wahab warned that the state will not tolerate criminal elements who hide in public infrastructure to attack citizens. He urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities to the authorities. The arrest of these seven suspects is seen as a major step in restoring order to one of the city's busiest transit points.
