Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu met with top security chiefs on Wednesday during an emergency session aimed at assessing recent developments affecting public safety in the state.
The closed-door meeting, held at the Lagos House in Marina, brought together heads of the police, the military, intelligence agencies, and other key security operatives. According to officials familiar with the discussion, the governor requested updated briefings on ongoing security operations, emerging threats, and steps being taken to ensure residents remain safe.
Sanwo-Olu reportedly emphasised that maintaining peace in Nigeria’s largest city remains a top priority, noting that the state government will continue to support security agencies with resources and coordinated planning.
He called for stronger collaboration among the various security formations, adding that proactive measures, rather than reactive responses are essential for keeping Lagos stable.
Although specific details from the meeting were not publicly disclosed, government sources indicated that more community-focused security initiatives are expected to roll out in the coming weeks.
The governor urged Lagos residents to remain calm, stay informed, and cooperate with authorities as efforts to strengthen security continue.
