Sanwo-Olu Champions Public-Private Synergy for Lagos CBDs

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has made a compelling case for robust public-private partnerships (PPP) to rejuvenate Central Business Districts (CBDs) across the state. Speaking through his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, at a Stakeholders’ Summit at the MUSON Centre, the Governor emphasized that these hubs are critical engines for economic growth. The summit, themed “Rebranding and Revitalising Lagos CBDs,” focused on creating a sustainable blueprint for urban commerce.

The administration’s vision involves a dual approach of physical infrastructure upgrades and regulatory streamlining. By improving the business environment within CBDs, the state aims to attract significant global investment while simultaneously empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Sanwo-Olu noted that revitalized districts would provide a more organized and competitive atmosphere for local businesses to thrive alongside international brands..
During the engagement, the Deputy Governor highlighted that the state is actively deepening its collaboration with the private sector to finance and execute high-impact projects. This includes the deployment of contemporary technology and urban management solutions designed to solve historical bottlenecks. The government believes that a modern CBD will serve as a catalyst for job creation and increased internally generated revenue.
Stakeholders at the event, including urban planners and business leaders, discussed the necessity of maintaining order and security within these zones to ensure long-term sustainability.
