The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called on Nigerians living abroad to become ambassadors of the country's positive image by highlighting its achievements alongside its challenges.

Speaking on the role of the Nigerian diaspora, Dabiri-Erewa said the country should not be defined solely by negative stories. She noted that Nigeria has recorded numerous successes that deserve recognition both at home and on the international stage.

She stressed that Nigerians across the world have continued to distinguish themselves in various sectors, including business, healthcare, technology, education, sports, and entertainment. According to her, these accomplishments should be promoted as evidence of the country's potential.

The NIDCOM boss acknowledged that Nigeria still faces significant social and economic challenges but maintained that these difficulties should not overshadow the progress being made in different areas of national life.

Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians abroad to share stories that reflect innovation, resilience, and excellence, adding that balanced narratives would contribute to improving the country's global reputation.

She also encouraged members of the diaspora to remain actively engaged in national development by investing their skills, knowledge, and resources in initiatives that can support growth and create opportunities for others.

According to her, the contributions of Nigerians living overseas have continued to make a positive impact on the country's development, while also strengthening Nigeria's presence and influence in the global community.

She reaffirmed the commission's commitment to working closely with Nigerians in the diaspora to promote national development and encourage a more positive perception of the country internationally.
