President Tinubu Celebrates Nigerian Creativity and Resilience at London Exhibition

In London on Thursday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu praised the ingenuity and resilience of Nigerians in the diaspora during a reception at Tate Modern. Highlighting the exhibition Nigeria’s Modernism, he described it as “a testament to revolution,” showcasing how Nigerians have transformed historical narratives into modern artistic expressions that resonate globally.
Addressing the diaspora, President Tinubu emphasized that Nigerians abroad play a pivotal role in advancing the country’s image and influence, urging confidence in the nation’s economic recovery and global potential. He encouraged Nigerians overseas to continue excelling and shaping opportunities for themselves and their homeland.
UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy welcomed the President and First Lady, noting that more than 500,000 Nigerians contribute significantly to the UK’s cultural and economic life. Lammy highlighted the £8.1 billion trade between both countries and recognized the diaspora’s role in strengthening bilateral relations.
Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chair of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, moderated the event and celebrated the achievements of Nigerians holding key positions in the UK.
Attending the reception were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ministers Hannatu Musawa, Lateef Fagbemi, Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd), Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Wale Edun, Jumoke Oduwole, Tunji Alausa, and Bianca Ojukwu. National security representatives included Malam Nuhu Ribadu and Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
The event highlighted the vital contributions of Nigerians abroad to culture, commerce, and diplomacy, reinforcing the strong UK-Nigeria partnership.
President Tinubu’s address underscored that the diaspora is a critical driver of Nigeria’s global influence, innovation, and economic growth.
It was a moment of pride and recognition, showcasing how Nigerians worldwide continue to redefine success while shaping the narrative of their homeland on the international stage.
