President Murmu Urges Indian Diaspora in Botswana to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Indian President Droupadi Murmu has called on the Indian community in Botswana to continue playing a key role in strengthening relations between India and Botswana. Speaking to a gathering of over 10,000 diaspora members, President Murmu described the community as a “living bridge of friendship” that connects the two nations culturally, socially, and economically.
At the start of her address, President Murmu paid tribute to the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Delhi. She observed a minute’s silence in memory of those who lost their lives and expressed heartfelt condolences to the families and friends affected by the tragedy.
President Murmu highlighted the diaspora’s significant contributions to Botswana’s economic growth and employment generation. She noted that through their hard work, Indians in Botswana have earned respect and recognition, becoming proud representatives of India abroad.
She further commended the community’s involvement in social service initiatives, emphasizing their efforts in fostering education, healthcare, and local development. The President linked their contributions to the Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam, underscoring the global spirit of unity and responsibility.
Addressing India’s domestic development, President Murmu spoke about the country’s vision to become a Viksit Bharat (developed India) by 2047. She stressed that the diaspora’s achievements abroad are integral to India’s global stature, noting that their success reflects the nation’s progress on the world stage.
President Murmu encouraged members of the Indian community to continue serving as ambassadors of India in Botswana. She urged them to leverage their skills, networks, and initiatives to further strengthen bilateral relations and deepen mutual understanding between the two countries.
Concluding her address, the President expressed confidence that the diaspora’s dedication and hard work would continue to enhance India-Botswana ties. She reaffirmed that the community’s achievements abroad are a source of national pride and play a vital role in India’s journey toward global prominence.
