The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Police, Western Command, has activated comprehensive 24-hour security measures across major port corridors in Lagos State to ensure safety and uninterrupted maritime operations during the Yuletide season.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police Western Command, Mrs Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Isaac Hundeyin.
According to the statement, round-the-clock patrols on land and water have been intensified to deter criminal activities and safeguard vessels, cargo, port users, and critical port infrastructure across the state.
Agbaminoja explained that the enhanced security directives are aimed at protecting maritime stakeholders and national economic assets across all port corridors in Lagos during the festive period.

She noted that security coverage has been activated across Apapa Port, Tin Can and Island Ports, Lekki Deep-Sea Port, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal, Ikorodu Lighter Terminal, as well as the marine patrol axis extending up to 12 nautical miles.
“The Command has intensified land and water patrols across all port corridors to guarantee seamless port operations amid the increased human and vehicular traffic associated with the Yuletide season,” Agbaminoja stated.
“We have strengthened collaboration with sister security agencies, terminal operators, shipping companies, and Port Facility Security Officers to ensure real-time response to security concerns and prevent threats to port safety and national assets,” she added.
The commissioner further urged all port users to remain vigilant, comply with security guidelines, and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Port Police Division or Marine Unit, reassuring stakeholders of the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining safety, security, and order throughout the festive season and beyond.
