A diaspora-based support group has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms and declared its endorsement of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

The group, operating under the banner of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) in the Diaspora, made the announcement after a strategy session in London. In a communiqué jointly signed by its Chair, Mayowa Olabisi, and Spokesman, Olawale Mikail, the movement commended Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, describing the reforms as “bold steps” capable of restoring investor confidence and strengthening Nigeria’s economic foundation.

The group also applauded Tinubu’s recent international engagements in Japan and Brazil, which it said have opened new opportunities for technology transfer, bilateral trade, and diplomatic relations. “President Tinubu’s reforms are laying the groundwork for a resilient economy while rebranding Nigeria’s image globally,” the communiqué stated.

On the 2026 Osun governorship race, AMBO urged the APC to nominate Oyebamiji, who currently serves as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and is also the state’s longest-serving Finance Commissioner. The group highlighted his record of boosting internally generated revenue, clearing pension arrears, restoring full salaries, and implementing fiscal policies that stabilized the economy.

As part of its commitment, AMBO UK announced a donation of ₦25 million to Oyebamiji’s campaign and pledged to mobilize 10,000 additional votes through grassroots structures across Osun State.

“With competence, compassion, and continuity, AMBO represents Osun’s best chance at prosperity. His influence transcends political boundaries, and his foresight and commitment make him the most viable candidate to lead Osun,” the communiqué read

The group reaffirmed its loyalty to both Tinubu’s reform agenda and Oyebamiji’s governorship ambition, stressing that strategic candidate selection would determine the APC’s strength in the 2026 election.
