In a move to bolster public engagement for one of Africa’s most ambitious transport initiatives, the Omi Eko Project has officially appointed Dr. Segun Alabi as its Head of Communications and Media. Dr. Alabi will be tasked with managing the narrative for the €410 million water transport project, a central pillar of the Lagos State government’s strategy to decongest road traffic and utilize the state’s extensive waterways.

The appointment was announced by the Special Adviser on Blue Economy to the Lagos State Governor, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel. He expressed high confidence in Alabi’s ability to strengthen the project’s communication framework, citing his extensive background in media relations and public affairs. Alabi’s leadership is seen as essential in communicating these benefits to the everyday Lagosian.
