The Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) has launched a comprehensive 10-day monitoring exercise to oversee the resumption of schools for the new academic session. Led by Director-General Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa, evaluators are visiting both public and private schools below the tertiary level across all six education districts.

A primary focus of this exercise is the safety of learners within the school environment. The OEQA team is inspecting school premises to ensure they are conducive for learning and that all necessary safety protocols are in place to protect students as they return to their classrooms.
Dr. Ogunmuyiwa explained that the monitoring visits are also intended to verify that schools held essential pre-resumption staff meetings. These meetings are critical for aligning teachers with the curriculum and ensuring that academic activities commence immediately and effectively from the first day of the term.
The exercise, which began on Monday, January 12, and runs until January 23, 2026, involves senior officials from various departments, including Quality Assurance, Monitoring and Investigation, and Statistics. This multi-disciplinary approach ensures a thorough evaluation of school readiness and administrative compliance with state standards.

By engaging directly with school stakeholders, the OEQA aims to boost learning capabilities and improve overall educational outcomes in Lagos. The Director-General emphasized that these visits provide an opportunity to offer support and guidance to school administrators, ensuring a high standard of education throughout the state.
