The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the successful completion of a major upgrade to its Diaspora National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment platform, aimed at providing Nigerians living abroad with faster, more secure, and seamless identity services.

In a statement issued on Monday, August 11, 2025, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, explained that the improved platform is designed to deliver robust, efficient, and user-friendly enrolment services while significantly enhancing data protection measures.

The upgrade integrates all NIMC-approved Diaspora Front-End Partners (FEPs) into the new system. These partners have undergone intensive training to ensure they possess the technical knowledge and operational capacity to manage the upgraded platform effectively.

As part of the rollout, all FEPs are required to obtain and activate their enrolment licences on the new system within 48 hours. This will enable Nigerians in the diaspora to access NIN services exclusively through compliant and certified partners.

NIMC acknowledged that the system upgrade may have caused temporary disruptions to enrolment services and apologised for any inconvenience experienced by applicants during the transition. The commission has now deployed a dedicated support team to address enrolment-related issues swiftly. Diaspora applicants encountering challenges are advised to contact NIMC via nimccustomercare@nimc.gov.ng for prompt assistance.

While the diaspora platform upgrade is a significant step forward, NIMC confirmed that NIN enrolment continues uninterrupted at centres across Nigeria. Local applicants can locate their nearest enrolment centre through the official NIMC website (www.nimc.gov.ng) and proceed with registration.

The commission also reminded both local and diaspora NIN holders that they can modify their personal data through the self-service portal at https://selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng.

In addition, users are encouraged to download the NIMC NINAuth App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to instantly verify their NIN, manage access permissions to their personal data, and benefit from secure verification and authentication services.

The upgrade, NIMC says, underscores its commitment to improving service delivery for Nigerians at home and abroad, ensuring that identity management processes are aligned with global best practices in security, efficiency, and user convenience.
