The Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) has announced an exceptional lineup of global leaders and change-makers for the MIPAD 2026 New Year Lunch, scheduled to hold on Saturday, 24th January 2026, in London, United Kingdom, at The Africa Centre.

Hosted by MIPAD CEO, Jonathan Olufowobi, the New Year Lunch will serve as a high-level convening of leaders from governance, global finance, culture, and the creative economy, setting the tone for the year ahead across Africa and the diaspora.

Among the distinguished speakers is Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who will attend as a Guest Speaker, bringing decades of experience in leadership, diplomacy, and pan-African advocacy. The event also features Clare Ashley, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, whose participation underscores the growing intersection between Africa, and diaspora-led economic influence.

Joining us will also be Anne Walsh, Former Special Advisor to the President of Nigeria, and Founder of Painless Universal, a global advocate for inclusion, innovation, and social impact; as well as Dr. Adesegun Adeosun (SMADE), Founder of Afronation, whose work has redefined Africa’s global cultural export through music, festivals, and youth-driven creative enterprise.

The MIPAD 2026 New Year Lunch is designed as a thought-leadership and networking platform, bringing together policymakers, business leaders, creatives, investors, and influencers to reflect on the year ahead, strengthen diaspora connections, and advance conversations around African excellence, leadership, and global collaboration.

Speaking ahead of the event, Jonathan Olufowobi, CEO of MIPAD, noted that the New Year Lunch represents more than a ceremonial gathering. “This is a moment to convene minds that are shaping Africa and the diaspora across different sectors. From governance to global finance and culture, MIPAD continues to create spaces where influence meets purpose and collaboration,” he said.

The London New Year Lunch forms part of MIPAD’s ongoing global engagement strategy, reinforcing its mission to connect Africa and its diaspora while amplifying voices that are shaping the future of people of African descent worldwide.
