A 22-year-old Nigerian student, Isaac Satlat, who was killed during a car hijacking incident in Pretoria, South Africa, has been laid to rest in his hometown in Plateau State.
Satlat was buried in Mhiship village, located in Pankshin Local Government Area, where family members, friends, and community residents gathered to mourn his tragic death and honour his memory.
According to details shared by a family representative, his remains were first flown into Abuja on March 18. A memorial service was subsequently held on March 20 at a church in Garki, drawing sympathisers who paid their last respects.
Before his death, Satlat was studying mobile engineering at Divine Favour Progressive College in Pretoria. He was reportedly attacked and killed on February 11 by suspected carjackers.
South African authorities later arrested three suspects in connection with the incident. The individuals have since been arraigned before a magistrate’s court in Pretoria, where they face charges including murder and carjacking.
The incident has added to growing concerns about the safety of Nigerians living in South Africa, particularly amid recurring cases of violent crime targeting foreign nationals.
