U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a Nigerian national, Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba, in connection with multiple criminal offences, including armed robbery and drug trafficking, committed within the United States.
ICE confirmed that Ijaoba is unlawfully present in the country and is currently being held in federal custody. The agency stated that he has already received a final order of removal and is awaiting deportation.
According to U.S. authorities, Ijaoba was previously affiliated with the Bloods, a violent street gang known for its involvement in organised crime, including narcotics distribution and armed violence.
Officials disclosed that he entered the United States illegally before becoming involved in criminal activities that spanned several years, drawing the attention of federal and local law enforcement agencies.
His criminal record reportedly includes convictions for aggravated assault on a police officer with a firearm, assault-related offences, armed robbery, obstruction of justice, and the sale of illegal drugs.
ICE further revealed that Ijaoba also faced charges for escaping from police custody, an offence that compounded his legal troubles and strengthened the case for his removal from the country.
The agency described him as a significant public safety concern, noting that individuals with serious criminal histories remain a priority in its immigration enforcement operations.
ICE added that Ijaoba will remain in custody until deportation procedures are completed, reiterating its commitment to removing non-citizens involved in violent and organised crime from U.S. communities.
