The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at driving innovation and technology development by leveraging the expertise of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
During a meeting in Abuja, NiDCOM Chairman/CEO Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa described the collaboration as a “timely intervention” that will bridge local innovators with diaspora scientists, engineers, technologists, and entrepreneurs. She emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and would strengthen Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem through shared knowledge and skills.
Dabiri-Erewa also encouraged NASENI’s participation at the 8th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS), scheduled for November 11–13, 2025, in Abuja, promising NiDCOM’s full support for the Agency’s efforts.
On his part, NASENI Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, highlighted some of the agency’s flagship projects, including Revolut, a low-cost, real-time payment platform; the Innovation Hub and Incubation Programme, which funds Nigerian innovators globally; and Delta-2, a collaboration with the Czech Republic entering its third phase this September.
Halilu explained that his visit to NiDCOM was to present two major projects: a government-backed, multi-currency payment system with real-time monitoring, and a diaspora-focused engagement platform to channel Nigerian talent in science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship into practical economic growth projects.
Both agencies agreed to form a joint working committee that will design collaborative projects focused on science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and broader diaspora engagement.
